38 NGOs call for “independence” of judiciary

38 NGOs active in the justice field warned on Monday against any "instrumentalisation of the judiciary for political ends." These organisations further called for the reinstatement of the dismissed judges in accordance with the decisions of the Administrative Court, reads a joint statement issued at the end of an international colloquium on "the independence of the judiciary," held on May 20 in Tunis. They also called to end what they described as the executive power's interference in the affairs of the judiciary and to respect the right to a fair trial before independent courts, the statement reads.
