Agi-Agenzia Giornalistica Italia strengthens its strategic presence in Africa and increases its network of partners and correspondents thanks to a new editorial partnership with Ivory Coast’s news agency AIP-Agence Ivoirienne de Presse.
Abidjan, February 17, 2015 (Agi / PPI) — The Central Director of AIP- Agence Ivoirienne de Presse, Mrs Oumou Barry Sana, and the CEO of Agi- Agenzia Giornalistica Italia, Mr Gianni Di Giovanni, signed today in Abidjan, at the presence of Ivory Coast’s Minister of Communications Affoussiata Bamba Lamine and of Italy’s Ambassador in Ivory Coast Alfonso Di Riso, a Memorandum of Understanding that launches an editorial partnership between Ivory Coast and Italy.
The agreement defines the desire of both AIP and Agi, key players in the global information arena, to cooperate in the editorial production, both in primary information production and integrated communication activities, as well as in joint professional training activities and in event organization.
Mrs Oumou Barry Sana, AIP’s Central Director, highlighted that “the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding with Agi is part of our strategy of communication and development of professional ties among news agencies, which includes the exchange of different types of news, multimedia contents and professional experiences. Moreover, this agreement will lead to a growing circulation of news about Ivory Coast, notably in Italy, in order to increase the knowledge of our country, which is today the crossroads of West Africa in the economic, cultural and social field. AIP’s news are distributed to our partners and to all Ivorian outlets. News agencies are the only subjects that guarantee newsworthiness and therefore they distribute reliable, diversified, plural and restrained news. This is the reason of their relevance in the media landscape”.

We will only be able to seize the opportunities offered by this rapidly evolving scenario if we enhance our mutual knowledge, and news agencies play a fundamental role in the divulgation of a reliable, timely and complete information”.
