CHINA OFFERS TOGO US$800,000 TO PREVENT EBOLA

LOME (Togo), Sept 30 — China has signed a financial aid agreement worth 420 million FCFA (US$800,000) with Togo to help the West African country to prevent the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

The pact was signed Monday by Togolese Prime Minister Arthème Kwesi Séléagodji Ahoomey-Zunu and the Chinese Ambassador to Togo Liu Yuxi.

The money will be used to buy materials and equipment to prevent the spread of the disease, which is ravaging the three West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Togo has not recorded any case of EVD but the country is taking preventive measures against the disease that has caused more than 3,000 deaths in the worst-hit countries.
