It’s official, Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor, captain of the Hawks of Togo and Spurs striker, has performed a dramatic U-turn on his decision not to represent his country at the 2013 African Nations Cup. The announcement has just been made by the player following talks with Togo’s President, Faure Gnassingbé, in Lomé.

The Head of the State promised to take “all measures” to ensure good participation of the Hawks during the 2013 African Nations Cup in South Africa, said Adebayor to journalists in Lomé.

“The Head of State told me that he was addressing the concerns. As a result, I will return to my club and come back early next week to join the Hawks teammates” he said before thanking Togo’s President.

Adebayor had previously vowed not to take part in the tournament due to a row over unpaid bonuses and Togo’s build-up to the tournament in South Africa.
