New Permanent Representative of Togo Presents Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Togo to the United Nations, Kokou Kpayedo, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today.

From 2014 until his latest appointment, Mr. Kpayedo was his country’s Ambassador to Canada. Between 2009 and 2014, he served as Secretary-General of Togo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. From 2003 to 2009, he was Minister Counsellor at Togo’s Embassy in France and at its Permanent Delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

Mr. Kpayedo held several other positions since entering Government service in 1991, including Chef de Cabinet in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (2001-2003) and member of Togo’s Inter-ministerial Committee for the Drafting of Periodic Reports on Human Rights (1994-2001).

He holds degrees from L’A�cole nationale d’administration du Togo and l’Institut International de droit du developpement as well as a master’s degree in law from l’Universite du Benin (TOGO).

Born on 27 September 1961, Mr. Kpayedo is married and has three children.
