Vice President Amissah-âarthur Meets With Presidents of Niger and Togo [press release] (allAfrica.com)
Vice President K. B. Amissah-âArthur yesterday held separate meetings in Cairo, Egypt with the Presidents of Niger and Togo.
Mr Amissah-âArthur is in Cairo to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the New Suez Canal, an important maritime route which will significantly cut the travel time of vessels.
A press statement signed by James AgyeniâBoateng, a Presidential Staffer, said Leaders from around the world attended Thursday’s inauguration.
Ahead of the inauguration, Vice President Amissah-Arthur met with President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger.
They reviewed the regional peace and security situation as well as the ECOWAS single monetary integration and the benefits to be derived. They also discussed new initiatives to speed up the convergence process.
President Issoufou and President John Mahama are jointly mandated by ECOWAS to supervise the single currency convergence process.
Later in another meeting, President Faure Gnassingbé of Togo and Vice President Amissah-âArthur also discussed the political situation in their respective countries as well as measures to deal with threats to the peace and security of the sub-âregion.
Vice President Amissah-âArthur is accompanied by the National Security Advisor, Ambassador Baba Kamara.
