Nation Builds Roads to Improve Access to Ports (allAfrica.com)

Roads that connect Ethiopia with neighbouring countries with the aim of increasing access to ports have been constructed, the Ethiopian Roads Authority said. Ethiopia has built roads that connect it with Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Djibouti.

In addition to enhancing the people- to- people relations, the roads are expected to expand Ethiopia’s access to ports, said Authority Public Relations Head Samson Wendimu.

The 185-kms Azezo-Metema, the Gondar- Humera, and Assosa- Kurmuk roads connects various parts of the nation with Sudan.

The 122-kms Gambela – Itang – Jikawo road linking Ethiopia with South Sudan, is also among the roads opened to traffic.

The 64-kms Jigjiga – Togo Wuchale road connecting with Somali land is also among the roads built to use ports in Somalia.
